Team Article is proud to announce the Article 0.80.

The "Article" module is a new content management module for Xoops 2.0*, 2.2* and 2.30, contributed by the "Article Module Team".

Hallo!

Excellent, excellent, excellent! This is one of the finest module I have ever seen. In fact I would better say, this kind of programming is really one of the finest. My interest is that this series of programing applied to all Modules by Xoopsforge gets applied in every corner of XOOPS so that all users get max. features.
Blocks on specific pages:
The blocks in Article are not yet used to offer the best possibility and I hope that it happens one day. It misses the feature "Category or Topic related Blocks" and would load only in one particular Category or topic. The block Topic should have the possibility to appear only on the Topic pages, as offered. Same for the category.
Basic Category and Basic Topic:
In the submission area, it offers a drop down for its handle selection "Basic category" as to which category it may belong to. However, if an Article needs to belong to a Topic and not to a Category, it will not work. This follows a programing logic that:
Concept of Category and Topic "NONE":
A Topic belongs to some Category. I would perhaps seperate the two completely. A drop down of Basic Category AND Basic Topic would then be helpful! Here in the drop down, none is a must. By doing so, one arrives to the following advantage:
Horizontal and Vertical martix of Categories: Clarity in Concept:
All Categories and Topics becomes a virtual cross-section in a horizontal and vertical martix of categories that can exists independently. They may have co-relation and they may not!!! Hence it means Cross Categories, which is including to Topics under categories, in H and V matrix and they can be really interdependent, they may not be. This allows an Article to exists in two main categories or one main and other sub category.
Division of extra categories and Topics in Submission form:
It would also help very much, if in the submission area Listings are divided into two or three sub tables with check boxes. I imagine the difficulties arising out of a situation where there are 200 categories and 300 topics! Then it would produce a very long page.
Related links drop down:
A default "Related links" in the submission area within advance mode that is always fed in by the drop down (pre programmed by admin) would be helpful.
Pre-programmed URLs of Sources by admin:
In the Source, it would be rather extremely helpful to offer a text area and a drop down as well. If dropdown selected, text is useless. By doing this, the submission area would be standardzised like the URLs of Sources do not change and they could be preprogrammed...
Multi-page spanning possibility:
Further, I say without any knowledge, that it does not have a multi-page spanning possibility if an article is pretty long and cannot be submitted to further topics or sub-topics. I did not smell it anywhere. It would be good..
Better accesible CPanel, TPanel and APanel:
Also, I would wish that the Category, Topics and Articles Panel is better accesible or has a better admin management.
Permission template and structure by Xoopsforge:
Xoopsforge trademarked their default permission template in the CBB, a fabulous conception. Hence, it would be a splendid conception to apply this concept to all the modules and the core, not restricting to Xoopsforge modules, or atleast to all the modules by Xoopsforge, including to Article also...
(NB: phppp, am I allowed to make more wishes or a long wishlist? )

Anyone else struck the problem of being unable to create categories, topics or articles after loading this module?

I'm using 2.2.3 final and the module installation process worked without problems, but when I try to actually use it, I just get blank pages when I try to go to the create category, topic or article pages.

Any pointers or thoughts appreciated!

I discovered my issue...

I didn't understand step 2 (see excerpt below) in the readme. I am running XOOPS 2.2.3 final, so I was NOT supposed to include the directory called xoops22 when I uploaded Frameworks to my root folder.

Once xoops22 was removed, the problems I was having stopped.

(excerpt from readme.html)
Installation

1. Unzip the package in an empty directory
2. Upload Frameworks to your XOOPS root folder (Frameworks/xoops22 is not used by XOOPS 2.2*)
3. Upload modules under modules to your XOOPS modules folder
4. Install or update each modules as usual

@deepy, I am so happy so see such detailed feedbacks. Some of them might have been implemented or I misread you, others we are going to evaluate for next release.

Mr_RealSurf, thank you for bringing this up. I didn't go back, re-read and *understand* the instructions as you did, so I attributed the same problem to something terribly wrong on my site.

Note to self: next time pay attention to the instructions, that's what they're there for.

I can't see why not... so long as the module supports multiple pages (which I think it does).

Hello all

Folowing deepy's massage , but focusing more on the users side - I would reccomend taking a look @ the magazine module - it has some very interesting things as for user's side interface.

I really think admin's side is important, but user's side is much much much more important,

I think some more options for orgenizing articles and categories (especially the ecompanied images that invoulved in it) would be great.
Again: the magazine module (even with all it's notices and warnings) is a great example to follow as for the uswer interface ...

but I really must say it's a great module and can't wait to the finale release !!!

@tzvook, as a developer, I am more focused on module architecture and code quality.
Would you plz recommend some template/theme designers?
As always we have been looking for designers but it seems no one is interested in collaborating with us.
It's a huge pity our work is not attractive enough to get some great designers involved.
The same situation as our other modules like CBB.

I would like to set a small foundation to hire some designers for our free modules, anyone could have interest?

I didn't meant template or theme, I meant more "visual" options for templates and themes.
The module index page is the most problematic...
(options = 2 or 3 categories side by side horizonaly, fields for category headers, background, etc ...

I promise to send some ideas from my designer before the finale 1.0 release ... Money is cetainly not the issue ...
Hebrew translation is promised too (for the first time) for CBB and Articles

such options are available for template designers by the features of multi-tempaltes, category-based tempalte and article-based tempalte. However we are not able to make all tempaltes READY for end users, that's the reason I was talking about "hire" designers above.

I dont understand the difference between "Delete" and "Delete Article" in the Edit form.

Why the Summury dosn't have any editor?

Delete is for deleting single page and Delete article is for deleting the whole article.

Summary is commonly used for either a summary of the article's content or for commentary on the article. A few lines of plain text is more than enough.

When trying to install the module I get the following error:
No Profile fields found
The module however seems to get installed but when I try to go to http://{XOOPS_URL}/modules/article/admin/index.php I get a blank page.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
