Sorry for asking stupid questions, but how do I update a module? Do I just overwrite everything? If so, I will love all posts and everything.

Go to System Admin - modules click on the little folder icon with the green dot (module update icon) and follow the instructions.

Just let you know: currently I am the only developer/designer active in both CBB 2.* and CBB 1.*

Please help, I have updated my site and with php debug on I get the following when I log into a forum:

Notice [PHP]: Undefined variable: data in file modules/newbb/class/forum.php line 140
Warning [PHP]: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in file modules/newbb/class/forum.php line 140

Is it serious? Also what version of Poll or hack shows up in the forums?

Are you updating the 2.0.13 version with the new features as the 2.2 ver? Or just resolving security issues as needed?

I was pretty sure you posted a while back you are no longer developing the 2.0 ver, only the 2.2. If this is in error them my appologizes. Perhaps I am thinking of a different news post.

I *have* tried acually to contribute what I can as a non-php guy. I had several ideas also a detailed karma system for example. But was ignored for the most part. *shurgs*

And I can appreciate that. However as someone who is apprehensive of upgrading to 2.2+, it does not help those in the same boat if module makers drop 2.0 modules.

Again, if I misread or such and you didnt state you were dropping active development then, again my bad.

If you did then I am simply expressing my displeasure at that which I think I am entitled to.

The announcement was made before XOOPS 2.2* was announced as "abandoned", which made it reasonable to stop developing old versions and focus on new versions.

Even with the fake "abandon" announcement, there is no big difference between CBB 1.* progress and CBB 2.* progress. The new features in CBB 2.* were planned and designed before that announcement.

Furthermore, the bugfix/further improvement for CBB 2.* were mainly based on feedback from XOOPS Chinese community, which are mainly using XOOPS 2.2* series.
Without feedback, how could I make bugfix/further improvement for CBB 1.* since I myself use XOOPS 2.2*?

I would think, and perhaps this is just me, if you add a feature/bug fix to the 2.2 code you do so with the 2.0 code base. If people using the 2.x ver would like a feature dont you think the 1.x people would as well? Makes sense to me at least.

If you are going to update it I will be happy to give you feedback for improvments and such on the 1.x ver. :)

Also I believe the anon posting bug still exists in 1.15 as I have a spammer whos able to post as anon when I have it disabled on all forums.

If you are not going to activly develop CBB 1.x then at least please continue to fix bugs, thanks.

Convert from phpBB2 to CBB 2.31

I understand the cbb.getituponline.com site might have some scripts available for the process of converting from phpbb2 to this XOOPS module. The site has been closed for maintanance for quite some time. Any idea how long that will be down and/or is there another site that would have this information??

I am pretty sure you are the guy I sent my karma system to. It was all explained out on math level all it needed to be done is code it in. If you are not the one I sent it too then perhaps it was someone else assoicated with phppp at that time. But I do distinctly recall sending it to someone during that time period, and nothing came of it. Forgive me of the exact details are a bit fuzzy it has been awhile.

Red_Bee, I double-checked: the bug is fixed in CBB 2.31
It uses a new interface in CBB 2.3*: forum view page=>bottom: admin=>admin mode: pending

In CBB 1.15, it uses old management and I do not have time on it.

As for karma system, I started a project at d.x.o long time ago and then some guys like Rhomal joined discussion. It is a pity no one could code for it.
Although it is more of a Xoops-wide element than a NewBB/CBB element, it has been planned in our CBB 2.4; Take a look in case you are interested in:

phppp I understand limited time, this is a hobby after all. I am not being critical of you, just expressing my feelings I was disappointed as a XOOPS 2.0 user.

However you gave me the inspiration to upgrade my site. I took the plunge and I am now running 2.3a with your latest CBB module. Go figure. heh.

However your latest CBB does not want to read the old NewBB2/CBB1 database files. Everything displays fine except when you click on a post, it shows a blank screen. If I use CBB 1.15 the posts show fine, but the admin menu is blank.

I then backed up my database and uninstalled and reinstalled the CBB2. It now works fine, this is why I stated it was a database file/format issue.

However I would hate to loose 18 months of posts. If you know if a fix to restore my old database I'd appreciate it.

Well I've found one problem with this module that I'd like fixed....

That fun little addition with the level, hitpoints and so on and so forth... everybody on my forum has 0 hitpoints... ?

How do I fix that?

Admin. menu >> Modules >> Administration >> click on the Update button for forums.

Cloning question - CBB 2.31

Hello,

I am attempting to clone CBB (to use its framework for a customized purpose, not to have a second forum), and I seem to have hit a stumbling point.

I went through and changed all references and filenames containing bb to dd (newdd is the new module_dir), changed _MI_ to _XK_ to keep from declaring duplicate functions, etc.

I then found myself looking at a duplicate class Forum being called. I dig a global search and replace, changing Forum to ForumDD.

Now I am getting the following error:

 This page cannot be displayed due to an internal error.

Helpful infomation you should provide while asking for assistance: 
 
Error [Xoops]: Handler does not exist 
Module: newdd

I went and globally changed ForumDD back to Forum.

Now it's telling me that I'm once again redeclaring the class.

Any idea what I would need to change to get XOOPS to treat newdd like it treats newbb?
