This version was mainly created to support the new way Xoops 2.2 uses extended editors like Kiovi.
You can use it on a production website.

This version is compatible with Xoops 2.0.x AND Xoops 2.2.x

Changelog
> The module is now capable to use the editors provided with Xoops 2.2 (The module is also runing with older Xoops versions)
> I have modified the templates so that the printable version, the pdf version and the rating pages are not indexed by robots (thanks to tl for the idea)

How to get the module
Simply go to its homepage :

How to upgrade
Copy the files to your website and upgrade the module in the modules manager

Good update, thanks! Just some little ideas for the next version:

ARCHIVE
There should be more displaying options, like showing all news item of a year.

SUBMIT
This needs a template file. And maybe this could be adjustable in terms of what fields a user sees.

Problem with removing News module

Like news module and will use but noticed a problem.

Upon removing the module (using the standard admin interface) the tplfile database table still has remaining news template references for template sets that were NOT choosen as active. This causes the admin->misc->template page to show a php error on line 103 in tplsets/main.php file.

Where is the Spotlight feature? This was an option in the module preferences and I can't find it with the update.

Edit: nevermind. I see now that you have to add the block under the "new" way XOOPS handles blocks. Can't say I really like this particular change to Xoops.

i updated my module and then all of my previous news disappeared from the home page, even after hitting upgrade and when i try and edit the news stories, because under the module prefs they're still there it says i dont have the right to edit the news

Have you launched the upgrade script ?
Have you see the file called upgrade.txt in the zip file ?

Well, verry nice work. For the next versions, what about a navigation path for the categories downward - similar to breadcrumb path you provide for theme file( like olso in this category we have this subcategories, maybe a spotlight feature for last posts in the subcatecories - in the category page)

Verry nice module but once you enter in a category, the only way of navigation is up. Nothing about the subcategories available at that place.

i dont know what the previous version was, whatever is auto installed with XOOPS is what i had, and i upgraded it

EDIT:fixed it, i didnt know there was an upgrade.php sorry for the inconveinece(spelling please?)

Any plans of creating a conversion script from other news modules (like AMS)? Not that AMS is bad or anything, actually it's quite good. It would be nice to have the option of switching though.

Can someone tell me a bit about the PDF printing?

Why does it not print images in the news item?

Is this to do with the built-in PDF creator in MacOS X or is it something to do with FPDF?

It prints the text okay but not images.

Hi Herve. I am still working with 1.3.1.1 and I can't seem to get my existing stories comments to link with the stories after the upgrade. I checked the xoops_stories table after the upgrade and see that the comments column has be reset to zero for all my current data. This is a problem, can you help me here.

Also in the user profile the "show all" link does not appear so the user can not examine his/her stories. You have to go to "stories by same author" in order to see the list.

Is upgrading to 1.3.1.2 going to remedy these problems?

Desperately looking for answers.

Nice work. It's what I expected to upgrade XOOPS into 2.2.1.
Is it possible to place a photo (about 420X350) on top of the article, that will be visible only when you read the article and not at the home page or the news main page or the spotlight ?

How do I add an article's topic to the recent news block? I know i have to edit the file news_block_top.html, but what tag should i add? <{$news.topic}> (wild guess ) doesnt work.

For some reason I can't use spaw editor with news 1.3.1.2. The only editors available is DHTML, Compact and Kiovi.
I have uploaded spaw in root/class/ folder and olso in root/class/xoopseditor/ but no results. (on XOOPS 2.2 install)
I have used 1.3 and 1.3.1 version of news and I could use spaw editor. I have no ideea why I can't use this editor with this release.
I must say that phpdebug is clean.
I have noticed this difference between 1.3 and 1.3.1.2 versions:

I think there's something wrong with the spotlight function (the news_block_top.html template). First, I cannot set the block to non-visible, after modifying it keeps toggling back to visible. Also, when i turn on the spotlight function, it shows the news from a topic that i did not include in the spotlight.

Small problems on 2.2.1
1. I have 2 webmasters (group with approve rights), but can't see 2 users in possible authors in submit form (wrote as webmaster from frontend) - only I and Anonymous
2. Please return possiblity select any user as article author - it's useful, when article writted "on behalf of..."

Author reseted to approver on approval. Bad
Real situation - user with post rights and without approval wrote article, I can approve it only by editing (XOOPS 2.2.1) - as result I had changed author of article... Suxx
