XOOPS: XOOPS and CPanel

Have you noticed that CPanel, the leading web hosting control panel, has incorporated an addon to automatically install and maintain a XOOPS installation on any hosting account in their latest release 9.9.9?
I think this is great news because this will help spread XOOPS to literally millions of people who use CPanel and wouldn't know about XOOPS or how to install it on their own, but can do so using CPanel.

You're referring to Fantastico, right? If so, Fantastico (which is usually bundled with Cpanel) has had XOOPS available for a year or more.

It is very nice to be able to install XOOPS from the server. An entire XOOPS install takes about ten seconds.

However, they are usually one version behind.

No, I'm referring to CPanel by itself, without the need for Fantastico. I have a web server with Fantastico so I know it's there and I noticed they have outdated version too.
That's why I like more the new option in CPanel which is updated (2.0.7.3), they also added a function to find any outdated instalation of XOOPS on the server and auto-update it, which may be risky, but it's cool.
Also, if CPanel continues to add many CMSs and other software as standar Addon's, there's no need to buy Fantastico.

i would never trust a cpanel-coded script to auto-update other script installations. after seeing how buggy cpanel administration is (WHM), and how several features didn't work in any of the releases that i used, i just have no faith in their ability.

now, Hsphere, on the other hand, i'd trust psoft devs to create a xoops-upgrade script

but yes, that is cool news for the XOOPS community and any user of CPanel
