Allows latest/top news in a given topic to be displayed in its own block.

Adapted from Lykos Blocks module. Now works with 2.0.5 with added features:

- Added admin support for altering title character length
- Fixed bug in number of titles to display (now works in Xoops 2.0.5)
- Added more blocks (six topics blocks and one stats in total) to allow for more topics to be displayed
- Changed admin logo to suit xoops style
- Empty blocks no longer displayed

Available for download here until the module is accepted by the site.

Open xoops_version.php and delete the "a" in line

$modversion['version'] = 1.10a;

how do you use it?
i made it all visible but it doesn't seem to show on my page. Why is that?

how do you point the default "Recent articles in category" to one of the category created in news?

To use it... just go to admin > system admin > blocks and click edit on one of the 6 blocks...
From there you can assign how many story titles to show, what topic id, and the length of the story title characters.

Also, blocks won't show unless they have some content, so make sure there is at least one story in a particular topic.

This module is really good. It will be perfect if it can handle sub-topics(identified by topic_pid).

My suggestion is
1.
to select by both topic_id and topic_pic
or
2.
Allow to enter multi category ids (topic_id) in one block.

hmmm...still can't get it.
how does yours looks like in the admin

I manually enter my existing topic into the"category text box" and it doesn't seem to show.

Mine looks like this:

On your screenshot there is no number in the catagory section. I am not sure if you added one there. Keep in mind that the blocks will not display if there is no content in the given catagory.

As for the sub topics. It shouldn't be too difficult to do, but I am still heavily developing my site at the moment, and only modified this module out of personal necessity. (of which I didn't need sub-catagories). But when I get a chance I will have a look at it.

I've updated b_lykos_blocks_latest.php, now we can input several catagory ids (separated by comma).

All I do is:

$sql = "SELECT storyid, title, published, counter FROM ".$xoopsDB->prefix("stories")." WHERE published<".time()." AND published>0 AND topicid in (".$options[3].") ORDER BY ".$options[0]." DESC";

Good luck with that. Good to know someone is keeping things ticking while I have been awol...

I shall be updating Lykos Blocks shortly also.

Do you have a topic drop down in the block admin, or is it still a straight text box? Also did you create the 6 blocks manually, or did you generate it?
