I upgrade the XOOPS Authentication system for XOOPS 2.2.x

This new version include :

- Active Directory support
- Allow user to bypass authentication method and directly login in XOOPS
- Code reorganisation
- Improve error handler

ROADMAP :

Automaticly at login
By cron job
- NT Server Support

So you are telling me my active driectory clients can log in to my XOOPS website with their windows username and password if I set this up right?

Cool. Got it running against our AD.

Took me a while to realise that the error message I was getting meant I had to create the XOOPS user account with the same name before I could use the AD credentials to login.

This is a fantastic module that really improves XOOPS usability. I got it running against our 2003 AD, authenticating against mailNickname. You currently do need to set the users up first in Xoops, but I believe that may change in the future.

Excellent feature is that you can bypass ads authentication for certain users!

One problem I had - I could not get the ads authentication to work alongside GIJoe's autologin hack. Would be a nice feature if they could work together.

Jyotirmaya is right on the money with the mailNickname part so it should be like this:

Login name use in the DN = no

LDAP Attribute use to search the user = mailNickname

The search filter LDAP query to find user = (&(objectclass=*)(mailNickname=@@loginname@@))

The domain name = your_AD_domain.com

This is an awesome hack Pemen. I can't thank you enough. It searches through OU's and seems to be able to authenticate everyone regardless of OU..this never worked in any of the hacks before.

Now all of us corporate users can create an account for our users in XOOPS and then from their on out they login with their AD password. Remember mailNickname is the part of their e-mail address left of the @.

Yes, when you authenticate accross an LDAP directory (like AD), if the credentials (loginname/password) is OK, then the XOOPS Auth system load
the user with loginname as id from the XOOPS SQL Database : So you must create, for the moment, the XOOPS user as the same loginname than the LDAP Directory.

I plann to develop a system that synchronise automaticaly users from LDAP to XOOPS Database.

In the future, the goal is to make XOOPS users management, entirely store in a LDAP Server. The xoops_users table will not be use ever.
No need to synchronise, the users are natively in the LDAP Server.

In my environment it appears as though a user can change their AD password and use both the new one and the old one to login to Xoops.

User changes password from password1 to password2 and they can login with both password1 and password2. Is there a way to prevent this?

You need to implement another system that is outside the scope of XOOPS : a password synchronisation system like WPSYNCH

It's a part of a global identity management project like the ldap directory.

HELP!!!
I am doing a project using LDAP for User Authentication (Windows 2003 AD) with Xoops2.2.2. Have anyone tried LDAP with XOOPS before? Can someone tell me how to config LDAP settings with Xoops?

Does this work with Apache webserver, or just XOOPS on IIS?

I have installed the patch, but when I try to login an LDAP user (after manually creating their logon in the database) I get the error "LDAP Module not loaded".

Do I need to turn something on with the server itself?

I think that you don't activate the LDAP extension in PHP.

PHP need to be compiled with the option --with-ldap in UNIX system or uncomment the line : php_ldap.dll in windows system.

Hello, everyone.

For the first, excuse me with my english, but i'm french .
So, i've got a big problem for use XOOPS 2.2.3 to authentificate my Active Directory users.

I have tested all possibilities with all parameters imaginable in the section "System preference / authentification option" but nothing is right, i have all the time this message :
"Désolé, aucun utilisateur correspondant n'a été trouvé. test(ads authentication method)
Si la page ne se recharge pas automatiquement, merci de cliquer ici"

My parametres are those :

Méthode d'authentification > Active Directory
Port LDAP > 389
Nom du serveur > 192.168.0.1
Base DN > dc=mydomain,dc=fr
Search DN > cn=administrateur,cn=users,dc=mydomain,dc=fr
Password > adminpassword
Version LDAP > 3

Under ldap version, i have two lines like this :
Admin
Oui Non
I have tested with "admin" and none in "admin"
And i have tested with "Oui" and "Non" seleccted
In all the case, nothing is work

Filtre de recherche supplémentaire > none

Nom de domaine > mydomain

Is someone could post here a concret example for all the field ? or explain to me which info are required in the differents options...

and another question is... if you know how to migrate a NT db on SAM to Active Directory??

There is official Microsoft migration process to do this.


PEMEN i had a question... there is any form to load the users only in AD???

HI... im here again... i have another question... i need to login on XOOPS ... ok!... i can do it... with your hack... but could i change the password stored in the LDAP?? .

Hi guys,

I will soon be running multiple XOOPS implementations. I would like to be allow users to access both systems seamlessly without having to input their passwords and have one user id.
Each system should still have unique user settings such as: Signature, interests etc.

I am quite new to LDAP authentication and I do not have a full understanding of it yet.

Can anyone tell me if LDAP is the solution that I have been looking for. Has anyone done anything the same?

Currently, I am thinking of developing a hack which synchronises user details between the two implementations.

Yes you can use LDAP but you need a LDAP directory to implement.
If you don't have already such a LDAP directory, I think that a multisite hack is better and simplier to use.
