Is something like this possible?

I would like to use only headlines and a short summary of the article.
So the text would be to short to make it look good in just one column.

When they choose an article it will become one column again.

can anybody help me.

Is news1.2 still under development?
Also read that you can create a restricted topic, another wish come true.

I have no bug reports and if this continues over the weekend, I will release v1.2 RC2 as 1.2 final.

You can set topics to be readable only by certain usergroups and you can restrict the topics in blocks and front page to only take articles in allowed topics.
