As of July 10th, 2016, PHP 5.5 is not supported anymore:

It is worth to note that PHP 5.6 will be actively supported only till end of the year, i.e.:

The good news is that by that time all XOOPS key modules will be PHP 7 compatible.
Of course, it will happen faster, and with larger number of modules, if we get some additional help!
