Sup everyone!

Simple question

whats a good module for 2.5.6 xoops for a forum?

On that note is there a good location for modules that are 2.5.6 compatible?

Thanks!

You can check out this list of modules that are compatible with 2.5.6

https://xoops.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=6411

There should be more by now.

I am working on few more, and then we'll be finally closing the list and releasing the Basic Module Pack. It takes way too long to finalize it, but there is always another module to be worked on...

NewBB seems to work okay, even though it is not on the final list. It is the one you used to post this thread. It has taken two different directions and I lost track of the versions. I think Cesag or Mamba could point you to the latest release candidate.

There was NewBB 4.3 , released by Alfred in August 2012. Alfred started to work on version 4.4, but as it seems from the Changelog on his Website, there was no new progress since March this year.

In the meantime, Irmtfan did several improvements on 4.33 version, which you can download from XOOPS SVN - just click there on "Download Snapshot" link. Check out his Changelog for list of changes. You can also read more in this thread and this

I hope, we'll be able to merge those two versions soon - it doesn't make much sense two developers working separately...

CBB was a version of NewBB, and then it was merged back into NewBB...

Thanks for the information..

The 4.33 branch fails during install. however I did also download the mamba branch and I believe that is 4.06 and that one worked without issue

my branch is outdated, so you definitely should not use it.

What errors do you have with the Irmftan's version 4.33 ?

I seem to remember irmtfan pointing out an alternative url to someone (different thread). I would seriously wait for imrtfan to dump on this. It might be a day or three.

Meanwhile, on 2.5.6, there is one known issue with the version of newbb I was alluding to above. It does not provide an edit my post link to posters even when all permissions are enabled for this. I just learned to live with it.

I know that bug question was not directed at me, but this is a good time to make this known.
