Registration Page Garbled

I've just setup xoops 2.4.5 and everything is working fine. There is a problem though with the registration process. Once a new user registers and clicks the Submit button, they are confronted with a page full of strange text characters. Normally this would show, "Thank you for registering with xoops and an email will be sent...." It is rather off putting for the new user. Even though the page is garbled, they do receive the email for activation.
Any suggestions, please, to show the correct page of information

Thanks

Did you clear your cache?

Can you submit a picture of what the user sees, or give us the URL, so we can try to register and see for ourselves?

It's hard to help if we don't see this page and these "strange characters"...

I've tried it on different browsers and still the same problems with garbled text.
The website is still in a build stage but the url is

http://ispvip.homeip.net/newsletter

Please try the registration and advise if you get the same page.

Thanks again

I uploaded another register.php. When I compared (diff) the two files there were no differences. Put the new one in anyway and still the same problem. I've turned the errors on, but it's not showing anything worthwhile.
Thanks for advice tho'

Are the files on your server verified with the file checksum (see release notes)?

I must seem like a complete moron. I copied the checksum.php into the main xoops file (where mainfile.php is) and looked at it thro' the browser. this showed all the files in the package along with a load of numbers at the end of each line. I'm sure this is good, but how am I supposed to know if all the files are there? There were a 'gazilian' of them!
Should the checksum show all the files or just the one's that are missing?

Normally only those that are missing, or are different.

You may ignore the install folder which had to be deleted and the xoops_data and xoops_lib which were moved/renamed.
The rest should be not listed, unless you deliberate had modified some as eg templates or theme files.

Thanks everyone for your support on this matter. Because the site is still under construction, I think I'll just get 2.5.0 and make sure I have a good install. This may be faster than chasing down this error.
I really do appreciate all your help, especially when the rollout of 2.5 must be keeping you busy!
cheers
