Greetings from New Zealand.

I am currently looking at a range of open source solutions as a framework for our new social networking concept. I would like to know if XOOPS is fully GNU General Public licensed, meaning that I am able to modify the source code to meet my requirements without the need to seek permission. A GNU General Public license means that I can remove any, and all, links, banners, and footer 'powered by' remarks and replace them with any links I choose.

I sincerely appreciate your assistance.

Many thanks,

Shane.

Hi Shane,

You don't have to display any 'powered by Xoops' credits, but GPL requires you to retain the copyright notices in the PHP/HTML files that comprise the Xoops core files, along with any copyright notices present in Xoops modules and themes.

These will obviously not be seen by your site visitors, so you can customise the site the way you want it.
A thread is for life. Not just for Christmas.
