I can't seem to edit, add or delete the navigation bars or Menu/submenu buttons on this new theme I installed?

You could try contacting the theme designer (algalochkin)

To edit the top menu edit the file:
themes/ixt00902/tpl/globalnav.html

By default it will add links and sublinks like the main menu.

To edit the slideshow and demo buttons edit the file:
themes/ixt00902/tpl/slides1.html

I have made the changes but they are not showing up on the site. I have also changed the chmod to 777. Is there anything else I might be missing?

You don't need 777 permissions on these files. Clear your cache folders (xoops_data/caches/smarty_cache and smarty_compile) except the index.html files.

delete your cache temporary and cookies in the web browser

YAY! Got it working now! Now I just have to figure out how to link the menu items?

I am being told,
WARNING: File /home/gonzomus/public_html/newsite/mainfile.php is writeable by the server.
Please change the permission of this file for security reasons.
in Unix (444), in Win32 (read-only)

WARNING: Folder /home/gonzomus/public_html/newsite/xoops_lib is inside DocumentRoot!
For security considerations it is highly suggested to move it out of DocumentRoot.

What does all this mean?

Read the XOOPS 'Release_notes.txt' that came with the files you downloaded from xoops.org

It's all explained in there.

Mainfile.php must be chmoded to 444 so that people can't read/write to the file which contains all your critical info!
