Is there a simple way to import my content (news and comments) and registered users to XOOPS from my e107 site?

radiohead, welcome on the XOOPS forum!

I am afraid, there is no upgrade script available. However with a little knowledge of SQL, you could do a lot.
Install XAMPP together with a backup of your site on your local PC. Install in the same(!) database XOOPS (2.3.3) and the News (1.63) module. With phpMyAdmin, you can run SQL statements to copy the info needed.
(For users there is also an import from CSV file script.)
