I have been able to get this site working to a point where I partially have a front page on the outside but everything works fin locally.
if you have a look at http://www.smashpro.com.au/xoops you will see partial graphics then text.
if I do that on the server itself i get the whole page.
I know it will be a localhost setting somewhere but I can't find it.

Can anyone advise.

You have several references to http://localhost/ in the URL's of your site (theme.html ?). Replace them with the domain name or with a relative reference to the webroot (eg /xoops/path/to/file.php)

Yes, I am aware I have paths to localhost thanks.

The problem I have is I do not know which file it is coming from. I have been through the obvious config.php file and nothing. can you advise what file I should look in please

You need to look into your theme files. Since you seem to be using zetagenesis look into the theme.html and the various templates of this theme. Locate the http://localhost/ and replace it with either your web url or the smarty variable for your XOOPS site url

I have been through all theme files for both themes and there is no sign of lcoalhost anywhere.
Why would a standard installation be pointing to localhost. shouldnt this be a setting of the config.php as to where it gets its data from.

Something is wrong, otherwise it would work. Run the checksum.php to see if any of the files are corrupted.

If this doesn't work (i.e. all files are OK), you can send me PM with your login/password to your Website and FTP and I'll take a look.

Try with reuploading the files. It might be needed to redownload the archive from Sourceforge, because some mirrors may have ended the download prematurely, with missing files as a consequence.

So it's clear that the "http://localhost/xoops/" is being inserted as a value of "xoAppUrl".

Now you have to find out where is the value coming from. It could be from some file (like mainfile.php), or could be coming from your database.

I don't have the time to look for it, but just wanted to show you the way you can investigate what is going on...

Hopefully re-uploading the files will fix it...
