I am trying to secure my site, but when i upload a .htaccess file with "php_flag register_globals off" I get an error 500 when trying to access any pages within my site. any help?

Not all hosts allow you to overide the register_globals setting with an htaccess file, for example if they are running PHPSUEXEC.
A thread is for life. Not just for Christmas.

Ask your hoster to set it to off.

Thanks for the input guys, I managed to get it with a php.ini file.
