Problem with new installation

I am new to Xoops, so this is a new install.
Running Fedora Core 10 with xoops-2.3.2b.
Run web pagehttp://mydomain/htdocs
Page 1 to 7 works fine.....then.....the dreaded..

Checked mainfile.php is set to 777. Even tried 666.
Both mainfile.dist.php and mainfile.php are in the root directory (/var/www/html/htdocs).
Need some help here because all googling gave me on this was the mainfile.dist.php being in the root of the webserver.

Well in this case you should create the mainfile manually, using the mainfile.dist.php file. Edit it, and upload it. Rename it to mainfile.php. Normally, it should work then.
I used to use this account, but no longer.

I've exactly the same problem. Maybe it's a stupid question, but what do you mean by editing the mainfile.dist.php?

The file contains several definitions for the paths and domain and the database credentials. These have to be edited to have them set to the right values for your system.
