How To Reset Password?

hi. is there a way to reset my admin password? either i can't remember it or someone hacked in & changed permissions. and the password to my email isn't working ;-( thx! happynewyear

From XOOPS FAQ

In case you lost your admin password and recovering it by mail does not work for any reason here is how you can solve the problem.

First you should know that the password is stored in the table users. The actual field is pass.
The password is stored in md5 format.

So what you need to do is:

1. Go to phpmyadmin or similar db management tool.
2. Open _users table
3. Locate your record (probably the first)
4. Edit the record
5. Set the password field by writing a new pw and setting the "function" to MD5
6. Log in with your new password

BTW

I did not use a db management tool. I just went through the control panel of my hosting account and used a MD5 generator.

thank you both. i'm now in the users table where it has all info, but it does not list the passwords. i can edit any users info, but can't find any passwords. there's like 30 numbers in the value column where the dropdown menu says PASSWORD, on the FIELD line that says 'pass' -- but i don't know what those numbers are? HELP, please
