upgrading xoops to 2.3 from older system with DuGris security image

2.3 has it's own captcha set up. If I upgrade from an earlier XOOPS in which I've added DuGris' security hack, is there going to be a clash somewhere?

My guess is that if the only files changed by Dugris' hack were Core files, that would be overwritten by the 2.3 files, then it shouldn't be a problem.

However, if you modified any other files (e.g. modules), that depend on Dugris' hack, then it could be a problem. You would probably have to reinstall the modules in their original form.

some users report problems during upgrade. you'd better to uninstall it before uploading the 2.3 files, then upgrade.

actually, I've gone through the upgrade, and everything seems to be functionally working right except I can't find any captchas (DuGris' nor xoops') anywhere on the site. Where are the new captchas meant to be displayed? Only when a new user registers?

we will have to improve that part in the future : add this to the comment, etc. but make that optional

agreed. It would be nice if module devs could utilize the captcha code in XOOPS to add extra security to their modules. CBB comes to mind...
