Xoops 2.3.0a Install help

when trying to install XOOPS 2.3.0a using the install wizard I get to the step where I enter in the DB info and it give me this error after pressing NEXT:

The collation '' is not supported.

Any ideas?

I had the same problem and solved it by changing UTF setting to None.
