In your image editor, make yourself a 16x16px image in 16 colours and save it as a .gif image.

Rename the .gif image to favicon.ico and ofer-write the one in your xoops_root folder.

It's relatively easy, but exactly what you have to do depends on which XOOPS version and theme you're using.

Make sure the theme you're using includes a line something like:
<link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/ico" href="<{xoAppUrl favicon.ico}>" />

The exact <link> will vary depending on the theme you're using.

For example the "default" XOOPS theme looks for this in you're root XOOPS directory (you'll see the favicon.ico file there).

The "zetagenesis" theme that comes with XOOPS 2.0.18.1 looks for this in the /themes/zetagenesis/icons directory.

To create the custom icon you'll need to either take an existing graphic and convert it or create a .ico file using some icon creation software. You can find an online tool here.

Hope this helps...

Okay, did this (2.1.18 and Zetagenesis).

The new favicon shows up when it first loads but then quickly switches back to the two circle XOOPS icon.

What am I missing?

Curious... it is switched for admin mode but not for the regular site.

Hi, try this... replace favicon.ico on these places in your site: yoursite.com/favicon.ico and /themes/zetagenesis/icons/favicon.ico. Also replace the icon.png file with your own in the same folder.. then in firefox, clear private data and select cache... in Internet Explorer (if you still use it), delete temporary internet files and restart your browser.. that should do it...

Thanks.

AHA. That was it. I needed to clear the temporary internet files. Now they are working.

I had already done all of the other stuff. It was just my browser.
