Should I upgrade?

I'm a newbie tasked with taking over a XOOPS site that a previous administrator created (no longer with the company).

Everything seems to be working fine, but I'm needing some new functionality.

I've got XOOPS Version 2.0.15 running and I'm EXTREMELY SCARED to upgrade it - my biggest concern is disabling some functioning Forumulaire forms - but I've also got a guestbook and some forums running.

I need to be able to edit my currently blank home page and I need to add a secured page where I can list about 10 PDF files.

Please advise?! Thanks so much.

Yes, you should upgrade to XOOPS 2.0.18.1 which is the latest stable version of the 2.0.x branch.

Download the full package from this site's homepage and you will find instructions in the there. Squeak if you need help

Upgrading the core wouldn't normally affect modules files unless a module overwrites core files. I did install Formulaire once but can't remember if this did so. Perhaps someone else can advise before I get home this evening and check for myself?

The easy way to know would be to download the Formulaire module and look at the instructions/readme file.

With regard to your blank homepage, it is very likely one block that is misbehaving. Go into Admin>blocks and turn of all the blocks visible on the "Top Page". Then add them back one-by-one until you find the culprit

HTH

Thanks. I'll wait to hear on the upgrade/Formulaire issue.

Regarding my home page - when I go to System Admin/Preferences and I tell it which module to use as my home page - I don't have "home page" as an option.. it is my Guestbook, Forums or "none".
Am I missing a module? Or if I want to customize the home page do I select "none" ? Thanks again.

Formulaire 3.33 doesn't require any hacking or overwriting of core XOOPS files; it's just a straight upload into the modules directory as normal.

Upgrading your XOOPS core shouldn't affect your forms.

Nope - sounds like you only have two modules installed, i.e. guestbook and formulaire.

If you set your "start page" in preferences to "None" then "Top Page" becomes your homepage. Populate "Top page" with system blocks, e.g. login block, main menu, search block, etc, plus module blocks, custom blocks, etc, and away you go.

Thanks for your time.
I was able to edit my "Top Page" nicely.

However, my "Top Page" is the "home page" my users see once they sign in. How do I edit the home page when a user has not yet signed in? It is still blank..

Are your blocks visible to "anonymous" viewers?

Go to Admin>Blocks and select "Top Page", "Anonymous" and "All" from the dropdowns and see what you see.
