child posts shouldn't be deleted (forumex/newbbex)

how can i prevent that all child posts are also deleted when a certain post is deleted in my forum? by modifying delete.php?

OR

how can i install a general reply-button per topic in forumex/newbbex instead of a reply-button with each post? (this would also solve the problem)
