I have just installed XOOPS 2.0.17, installed a few modules and everything is going fine. Then when I install certain modules (such as AMS or piCal), they install fine but suddenly I can no longer manage the blocks through the system administration module (System Configuration -> Blocks Administration). When I hit "submit", I get a "Sorry, you don't have the permission to access this area". If I de-activate the culprit modules, everything returns to normal.

Since this is happening with multiple modules (AMS and piCal) that seem to be very popular, I figure it must be something I am doing wrong instead of a problem with the modules.

I've seen similar messages when using modules that are not PHP5 compliant. You might try turning on debug (not smarty debug) and see if you get any PHP errors...

I turned on debug, and I now get a debug pop-up for everything I click on except for when I hit "submit" under blocks administration. I get no debug message, I just get logged out.
