forgive me if there is a module that exists for this already?

Simple asset management systems are versatile for a variety of applications across all sized organisations. Therfore can be used beyond asset managment also.

Effective if assets can be categorised, (and sub categorised) able to be broken down e.g. Assets-department-project-AssetList-Asset,

Each category would need viewable asset lists. E.g. view Departments assets. / View expired assets etc.

Typicall for effective xoops: From lists Tick boxes could be used to allow batch actions on assets

HUGE ADVANTAGE Although Asset management has common details (name, serial/reference, details, location, cost, photo, expiry date etc)
Adding Assets to the list helps if there is flexibility to what details are stored and you can customise form options (e.g. add another form feild or drop down menu etc). As assets can vary widely.

Using XOOPs flexibility it would be nice to see file attachments to be able to upload files to Categories and Assets.
