How about a module to allow site members to organize local meetup groups like meetup.com? The creators would be able to send out newsletters and each group would have it's own simple message board and event calendar function. Meetup.com is charging people 12-17.00 per month for this service, and I'd like to be able to offer it to my free site members for free.

So.... no-one else wants a module like this? IS there a module with this functionality hiding out there somewhere? PLEASE tell me XOOPS wizards, please. Is this possible?

Yeah I do, I made a project back in 2004 for this on Scriptlance.

I got a programmer, he let me down after 8 months, I picked a more expensive programmer, to be let down again, and it happened a 3rd time, I then lost faith and stopped.

I didn't have a budget back then, and was open to all offers, note that there were not XOOPS commercial services at the time, so I tryed to outsource.

I'm now hoping userpage by Hérvé will expand into something which can be used, but we'll see.

I no longer have a budget availiable at the moment, but if someone was to start something, I would be interested in potentially investing.

I wouldn't be surprised if you contacted Instant Zero - if they could develop the module for you Preacher - for a suitable development fee.

Could be worth checking

(Also - there are some other people who could develop modules for a fee - )see here....

In that case it will be January before I can do it... Even then only if I can finish my current contract by the deadline. But if I do, I will. I don't have any money at the moment, but I think a module like that would be great for xoops.

David, I did yes from one developer, however I bined that a long time ago, I'm no expert coder, but you could see the work was shabby, and also a stipulation I had was no core hacks to xoops, it had to be a module, bet you never guess what some of them did? yep they hacked the core to make the whole XOOPS cms a meetup.

I may still have a zip copy on my dserver, but doubt it. lol

As I mentioned I would consider putting cash towards a project, I've been looking at something like this for years.

Speaking of cash, has anyone seen much of McNaz (Xproject), I donated to the XAsset module to get a feature added I was in need of, and havn't heard or seen anything for a fair while now? is he still about?

Maybe Hérvé would be interested in paid work on meetup module, and at the same time expand userpage module to do this? You could ask him.

Well, I am searching all of my favorite script dumps for a .php script that will work. If I do I am going to attempt to make a module out of it if I get time.

Has anyone considered porting the GPL software Dolphin Community Builder into an XOOPS module?

It has every feature I see people asking for in a group/ profiles module. I will help all I can.
