My work site sits on a shared server run by a commercial webhosting company. Last week the server (not my site) was targeted by a DDOS attack that pretty much shut it down.

The company moved all the hosted sites to another server after a few days, which temporarily solved the problem. Unfortunately it looks like the new server is now also being targeted, and my site is offline again.

Having the site offline for any more than 30 seconds produces a state of hysteria amongst my co-workers, and after last week they are looking for someone to lynch.

Has anyone got any practical advice on dealing with this sort of thing? All I can think of is finding another company but I don't really want to leave as their service is outstanding.
