Hi,

Since CBB 3.05 seems to be quite buggy in some areas (specially templates and the hover menu) and I found that NEWBB 2.2 worked quite well in my website, I'd like to ask the experts...

Is it possible to use the database of my forum which is at the moment using CBB 3.05, to use NEWBB 2.2 final??

I ask this because I've tried to reinstall the newbb 2.2 module and the forum is great but there is a problem. The topics addresses and links get all screwed up. You can see them but when you click on a topics link you get "The topic or forum you want does not exist"

I know we can go from older versions to newer versions like cbb very well. Now, I wanted to do the opposite...

Is it possible? And how can I fix the database problem?

there is no downgrade patch
but i recommand you to use CBB1.16a which is the most stable/secure version (CBB1.16a is an improvment of newbb2.02)

Thanks alot for the advice Marco. I'll try it now to see if I have more luck. Hopefully, as we're already talking of a CBB version, the database won't screw up as it did on the newbb 2.2...
But I'm just guessing here...

I couldn't agree more. In CBB 1.16a everything works!.

At least, it works in XOOPS 2.0.3.2. I confess I had a problem in XOOPS 2.0.14 where previewing a post turned BB-code to HTML, but AFAIK that's a XOOPS version compatibility issue rather than a fault with CBB.

Would be great if someone with security skills would start a CBB 1.16a user group to help keep it patched until things are fixed in the CBB '3' series or the upcoming version 4.

You know. A bit like a classic car club.

Seems to be a very good module version.
But unfortunately it gives me the same problem as newbb2.2 did.

When I try to install it, it all seems to be well but the links to the topics / posts, just don't work.
Any ideas?

Also, it seems that the hover menu in the 1.16a cbb version is totally diferent from the newbb version 2.2...
Why is that?
The newbb2.2 version seems to have a better hover menu (you can see in the support forums of xoops.org).

My website is at the moment using CBB 3.05 with some hacked templates of newbb2.2. You can see it here. The only reason I'm not satisfied with it, it's because some of the main features are missing (like moderation options, quote button in posts, the print option doesn't work etc)
But I think that the hover menu is nice, don't you?

I really would like to manage to get the 1.16a cbb version working. And then with a little help of the newbb 2.2 templates, maybe I could get the better looking hover menus...

Any ideas?

As the Developer of NewBB 2.02 and CBB, I would strongly recommend the latest public release of CBB, which is CBB 3.05

For any problem you have, plz don't hesitate to check user guide and ask help from the module dev page.

And plz report the problems you found, send back the improvements you made, in case you are willing to contribute to the project.
