New install, my domain.com shows the index directory text. Can't find an index html. file in my public folder. Installed with no problems. How come I can't have an avartar here on XOOPS site?

Xoops uses index.php, not .html

New Avatars have been disabled due to abuse from certain parties. They may return in the near future.

Warning: main(mainfile.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/xxxx/public_html/index.php on line 35
Warning: main(footer.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/xxxx/public_html/index.php on line 44

Warning: main(): Failed opening 'footer.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/xxxx/public_html/index.php on line 44
What I have done to resolve, But still no Xoops:
I uploaded a fresh main.php file unaltered and overwrote the old one.
I have an index php. in the public folder
Xoops is in smart template fix mode.
There have been no midifications to any files within the domain, in fact XOOPS is the first intall on a fresh hosting account.
I have done 3 other successful XOOPS installs in the past.

This is indicating you do not have a mainfile.php or a footer.php in your root XOOPS directory which is showing it to be /home/xxxx/public_html/ Do you have XOOPS installed in public_html directory? Or is it installed elswhere like /home/xxxx/public_html/myxoops ? If so then you would have to change the virtual and physical paths in the mainfile.php.

But I really know nuttin.

The installation files were extracted in public_html
mainfile php. is the same as the directory path public_html/mydomain/xoops-2.0.14
Still no xoops

I am curious to know where exactly index.php should be?

Depending on where exactly you want to have XOOPS running is where all the files from inside the xoops_2.0.14/htdocs folder should be installed. For example:

If you want XOOPS running at root/public_html directory then you would upload all the files from inside the xoops_2.0.14/htdocs folder into the /public_html directory.

If you want it in: root/public_html/candyapple dirctory then upload all files from the xoops_2.0.14/htdocs folder into /public_html/candyabpple.

Follow install procedures by accessing yourplace.com/candyapple and the installation process should begin automagically.

Make sure you set your paths correctly and that should do it. Your paths will have to have the /candyapple on them for XOOPS to function correctly if you uploaded and are installing to public_html/candyapple. (candyapple could be any directory name you want it to be and created to upload your files to)

Hope this helps.
