Hi,

I just made a fresh install of xoops, and I wanted to try out some modules. I extracted the modules , copied them to xoops's /modules and set up the permissions but sadly the modules are not showing up in modules administration, i jus have the installed system module shown

what's up? what am I doing wrong?
thanks for any tips

What XOOPS version are you running and which modules are you trying to install?

Sorry i should have been giving this info in the first place, but that's the downside of writing questions at 2am

I'm using XOOPS 2.0.14
i tried to install the following modules

magazine v1.2
news v1.44
XOOP-Stats v0.45

thanks!

Did you upload to yourxoops/modules directory, the module folder with the module files inside?

Are you sure uploaded them to the correct yourxoops directory (yourxoops/modules ? When you log in to your server and look in the server directory of yourxoops/modules do you see the module folders, one for each of the modules you mentioned?

yes i have

/modules/system
/modules/magazine
/modules/statistics
/modules/news

all the new module subdirectories have the xoops_versions.php so i'm pretty sure i copied it correctly.

This might be a silly question because everything else seems to work flawlessly, but could this be happening because i'm testing XOOPS locally ( localhost ) ?

Did you go to module administration and literally install the modules.

2 step process upload then click install.

That's the problem, they are not shown in the module administration at all!

I only see the system module, which is installed, but nothing i try to put in /modules

Are you able to update the system module? If so click on the update module and see if that helps. Also try clearing your, yoursite/xoops/template_c folder. LEAVE THE INDEX.html file. And try clearing your system/browser cache.

Alright well what are the permissions on your module folders? (chmod 777)

I had my file permissions set to 755 i changed them to 777 which didn't make a difference

I did update the system module, no problems reported there.
Cleared the /template_c as instructed and cleared the browser cache... no luck
