I am a XOOPS newbie. I did a base install of 2.0.14 on a FreeBSD system, that part went fine, did some minor monkeying in the admin settings, everything seemed OK.

Wanted to set up my first module, so I snagged xoops-module-article-095.zip. Unpacked it, copied the article directory to the modules folder (docs says a "standard XOOPS install").

WHen I go to the modules in admin, if I chmod the article directory to 000, XOOPS gives me errors about not being able to read some files that it needs.

If I chmod the directory to 755 (ownerships match the system module and such), then I don't get the errors, but the module doesn't show up in the list below to get activated.

No idea where to go from here...

Ultimately, I want to integrate the wordpress module from the same author, but figured I try something easy first...

Any tips appreciated. Only apache errors are the "variables assigned by reference..." stuff on the original install, which I am supposed to ignore, and did, after that, it's all good.

Being new to XOOPS here are your primary resources:
Documentation site linked on the left
FAQ linked on the left - look at the beginners first steps and modules categories
Search function at the top right...hope this helps you find the basic info you need. Have fun!

Hi,

Did you uploaded "Frameworks" in to your XOOPS root ...?

Turns out I put the *contents* of the Framework directory in the XOOPS root, not the Framework directory itself.

Changing that fixed it, and it is working fine.

THanks for the pointer.
