Hi, I'm building a general-purpose site for my computer repair and consulting company. I have no need of people logging into my site, but I can't see any of the modules I've added or changes I've made unless I do.

There is one exception to this. If I put in thehttp://sitename.com rather thanhttp://www.sitename.com in the address bar, THEN I see the full site. If I go to the www.sitename.com all I see is a virtually blank page with a login prompt on the lefthand side. Is there a way to kill the registration thing completely and force XOOPS to show the full site by default? I've changed my mainfile.php to make sure it specified that the virtual directory washttp://www.sitename.com, but it didn't help. Any assistance would be appreciated.

You need to go to admin => groups => anonymous users and set permissions so that anonymous users can i) access the relevant modules and ii) see the relevant blocks. If you install a module XOOPS default behaviour is to allow webmasters and registered users to see it, but not anonymous users.

I suggest that you download the XOOPS Operations Guide from the docs site and have a read of the group permission system as it is an essential part of using XOOPs.

If you don't want to have a visible login block on your site, you can turn it off in admin => blocks. You can still get to a login page by visitinghttp://www.yoursite.com/user.php.

For most sites, the only time you may need people to log in is for a forum... if you do decide to use one at a later stage - I would advise you don't make it anonymous access, as it's harder to prevent bad posters
