I'm currently looking for a CMS software to power a gaming site. I have looked at various ones including PHP-Nuke & Joomla both of which have some great features but the Cons outweigh the Pros.

So I am hoping someone will give me some good news by telling it is possible to use PHPBB with XOOPS or even import / convert PHPBB data to the XOOPS forum.

Are either of these possible?

Also how easy / difficult would it be to built my own theme / template?? Is there any dreamweaver add-ons like there is for Joomla?

Yes you can import phpbb, you could run phpbb in XOOPS (x-phpbb), yet i would recommed you look at CBB and there is a importer I think for PHPBB.

Yes also there are dreamweaver extensions for XOOPS which use smarty to use quick code in your theme.

Your theme is easy to build, your layout is in HTML, the text is in CSS.
So there is a lot of scope if you know how...

Any other questions please ask?

Sorry for the late reply went to sleep, Xoopsforge CBB

This is a post on how to covert scripts across from one forum to another, if you need a full system ask phppp and he may make one as CBB is his baby as such.

I haven't had to do this my self, so I am not 100%, if you ask on this site though, it may be anwsered better

Has anyone successfully converted a phpBB forum to Xoops? It looks quite daunting for someone like me, without the necessary coding skills.

Can anyone suggest a commercial option? ie is there anyone out there who will do it for a fee?

I have a small (<30 users) not-for-profit parenting forum and need to convert it to XOOPS but I'm willing to pay if it's not too costly.

Cheers.

let me investigate, you may be able to find a script from
phpbb>>newbb2>>cbb

Really there should be a way from phpbb>CBB...
