Just downloaded the shorturl module.

Instructions say to modify your .htaccess file, but I don't have one and one didn't come with the download.

What do I put in the .htaccess file to make this module work?

What did the instructions state that need to be in the .htaccess file?

If you do not have an .htaccess file, they are quite easy to make. Simply open Notepad, or any plain text editor and insert the code that you are instructed to insert.

If using Notepad, simply click File >> Save As then give the filename ".htaccess" (no quotes), then select "All Files" from the "Save As Type", then click save.

Once you have created the file with the appropriate code, upload it to the root of your XOOPS installation.

For instance, if XOOPS is installed in the public_html folder of your hosting account, upload the .htaccess file there. The settings in the .htaccess file will propogate to all sub-folders of that directory.

Hope that helps.

The instructions say:

"Modify your .htaccess file, the one you have in your XOOPS root dir (if any)
and add the contents of the included .htaccess file. If you don't have one, just upload the one I provided."

However, there wasn't a copy of the .htaccess file included with the download, and I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I know how to create and uplaod a .htaccess file, but I don't know the code or how to code.

Well, I guess that would be a sticking point, now wouldn't it.

Have you tried contacting the developer or visiting their site to see if you can get the .htaccess file that is suppose to be there.

Another option would be to check the Sourceforge.net repository or the dev.xoops.org site and see if you can find an older version that does have the .htaccess file in it.
