As I add articles to my new site, it is showing the whole article on the index page. It is making the site really long.

Is there a way to just show a part of the article and then a link to read the whole thing?

Can someone please explain step by step how to do that?

Thanks so much!

Paula S :)

upgrade to 1.44 using this version follow the instructions in the readme.

You will then have 2 text areas, the top one is a teaser, the bottom will be the rest of the article.

You really want to get this version wether you know it or not

Thanks for your quick replies!

I actually had the XOOPS site automatically installed with Fantastico at my host.

I am a complete "newbie" as far as upgrading something like this. I'll learn, but don't think I can get it done in the time I have tonight.

Would you or anyone else reading be interested in doing the upgrade for me? I'll pay you for your time!

Thanks!

I'll be happy to help you out with advice if you run into problems, but I don't want to take your matters into my hands (nothing against your matters ).

Hi PaulaSmiles,

Were you able to update your News modules? If not, I can help you. You don;t even have to pay me. I'll be happy to help someone.

Let me have you site URL and let me look at your site first.

I think to break your long article on several pages.
place/type in [pagebreak] in the article wherever you want to break the page.

Hi PaulaSmiles

You said you were a complete newbie and willing to learn. Here is a good place to start - use the find help docs here post in my sig below. there are lots of links to docs and tutorials in this thread so take your time and download/bookmark them to read and refer to at your leisure. One day soon we should have them all referenced directly from xoops.org - as you will see from the thread. The other place to look for help is search and faq - quite often as newbies we have asked the same questions over and pver so FAQ was designed to help with that.

Happy learning!
