Being restricted by the number of blocks/columns available, I wonder if there's a way to have more them, like for example a rightright block. This would give me more freedom when creating custom themes.

There is a multiblock hack available which gives you the ability to have blocks above and below content displayed in the center column. If that helps any. You can find it by doing a search for multiblock hack.
