I want to be able to create a forum where only my moderators and myself can start topics.

(there will still be other forums where everyone can start topics)

Then I wan to be able to display the 10 newest topics from this restricted forum on the top center of my front page.

Is there such a module out there - if not I hereby request it.

Use the CBB version for your version of XOOPS, custom groups and the recent posts block. Apply permissions to all you want private to the custom group only.

Ouch, jdseymor. My version is using newBB.

I have tried using the "recent posts" block, but that just gives me the recent posts from the entire BB.

I want my moderators to be able to post 10 topics that everyone can discuss that day, and a user should not be able to replace any of those ten from the first page just because they make a newer post in another forum.

Kind of hard to explain, but I think that is a bit more understandable, or?

Please remember that my problem has two sides:

1. How do I set permissions in only one forum?

I could not find the place where you took your screenshot, Bandit!?

2. How can I place that 10 newest topics from that restricted forum on the front page?

OK, thx - I will look into CBB.

Just worried about: bugginess, security and how easy it is to install over newbb.
