members login only after paid

ok..this I'm sure will be hard to do..but I Thought I would put it out there anyway...

We want people to be able to go to a particular section..say members...only after they have paid....does anyone know how I might achieve this. I know about httaccess but I'm not sure how to put it all together with xoops,thanks..b

Yes -look for Xassett

This should enable you to do this ... it's not the easiest of modules to set up, but it does have a very comprehensive help guide with it.

Let me explain that a little better.

If you set your relevent content so that only members of a particular XOOPS group can see it... you can use Xassett to take the subscription, and to move people into an allowed group.

People who have not registered will not see the content (or they can view without being able to post - in the case of a forum... or however you set the site up) - but those who have the permission, can.

You could generate a new group e.g. Paid Members
Then grant access to your restricted areas only to this group.
You then only have to add your members to this group after payment --> no need of .htaccess

Should be possible even to add the paid members to this group by script after receiving payment.

And why not making MC Subscriptions module to work?
There are so many people asking for it for a long time!

yes I think...having them pay first....than an email is sent automatically with a forum where they have paid and with a username and pw and than we just manually add it..that would work..have to try that..

I'll also try downloading that module thing at home later see what that's all about..

As Xassett already does this - although and alternative would be good for more choice.

To be honest, I didn't manage to make Xassett to work (yet!).
I'll try and see if it fulfils all requirements (like sending notification/Email before subscription expiry)
