PC XOOPS INSTALL

I have installed XOOPS on a server in the past but I am looking at installing it on my works PC to test some options within XOOPS to use as an FAQ system for the guys I work with...

I am wondering where do I start and what will I need to have installed on my PC.. and where can I get it?

Depends on your operating system:

Linux: LAMP
Mac: MAMP
Windows: WAMP

On Win XP XAMPP is working good for me.
U find it at www.apachefriends.org

THANKS for the advice people. Only problem now is cant get IIS running on my dam PC!!

Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components... seems to run then says finish without even bringing the selection box up!!! AARRGGHHH

U don't have a need for IIS since the XAMPP or WAMP contains Apache as a web server.
So if you want to run IIS in adition for other reasons pls make sure, that you don't go with 2 webservers on Port 80!

Thanks mate.. just realised that now. Time to install XOOPS onto my PC now!!! ll in the www folder I take it

Yea, in the www folder. Which did you go with WAMP or XAMPP?

WAMP te.. now looking at HOW to create a database... yes I am a novice!!!

On the little button on your taskbar, u will have a link to phpmyadmin for making the database. You will probably need to create a user and password too in phpmyadmin too.
