I have a pay to view site, I have it where members can PM but I want only Premium Members to be able to PM. I can't seem to find it anywhere!

Well if you are using the latest version of xoops, you would simply go into groups and remove access rights for whatever group you do not want to be able to access it. If you are using an older version it is built in.

what version do you use?

I think you will only be able to do this in 2.2.x upwards.

Oh well, I was just thinking it wouldn't hurt to upgrade. however, will it mess my sites content up during the update process? I have never updated and it worries me..

The important thing about any upgrade... backup everything first - especially the database.

However, unless you really need this feature immediately - you may be better to wait until the release of XOOPS 2.3 or 2.4 - which may be more compatible with modules you already use.

Not sure what your budget is but you may want to consider the aMember module (www.amember.com). I am seriously considering it for my site; I have two memberships, one free and one pay. We will be providing less options to the 'free' users and this product sounds like it can do that (by prohibiting access to certain directories, e'g' the PM 'module' directory). Give it a look....

Disclaimer: I dont work for them or get anything from them :)

it doesn't help but davidl2 is right, It's only the 2.2x's that you can do this on, I have turned OFF many parts, full and half on 2.2.3a
