Having trouble with some of the admin problems on my latest newBB update. I updated from old 1.0 forums. For the most part, it went fairly well. But there are two panels that give me trouble. Specifically, the "Blocks" panel and the "Forums" panel.

The blocks panel (/modules/newbb/admin/myblocksadmin.php) comes up with an entirely blank page (no HTML what-so-ever). I did not alter the file in any way.

The Forums panel is a bit more comlplicated. If I try to edit a forum, I get the module control panel body (the menu tabs) with the tabs at the top for newBB. But I don't see any of the regular XOOPS admin menu framework. A block appears titled "Editing Forum:", but it is empty.

Anyone have any theories as to how to troubleshoot?

Re: newBB 2.02 - admin panel problems

Newbb 2.02 is not compatible with XOOPS 2.2x. CBB is a continued development of newbb 2. The proper version for XOOPS 2.2.3 is 2.30/or maybe 2.31. You can find the latest version Here.

Make sure you get the proper version. The latest for XOOPS 2.0.13.2 is CBB 1.15 available there also.

Ok...grabbed CBB 2.30. Control panels work now. But I have a new problem.

An anonymous user cannot access or view any of the CBB forums or CBB blocks. If an anonymous user accesses the forums, or any page containing a block relative to the forums...xoops yields blank pages. No HTML at all.

Turn debug on...and here's the output:

<code>

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /var/www/sites/scenespot.org/site/www/modules/newbb/class/category.php on line 220

</code>

It continues on with several other errors.

Any theories?

Try re uploading the /newbb/class folder. Looks like a file is corrupted.

Tried that, didn't help.

Just noticed some more info. Apparently, only the Admin group is the only group that can access the forums without the blank page problem. I'm thinking there might be permission problems. But within the module, I set all permissions to be exactly the same for testing purposes.

I believe in CBB 2.30 you set permissions centrally, under the permissions tab in admin, Double check that you went through all permissions in the dropdown list.

In the Admin panels, I went to the user tab and selected the groups pulldown. Then I made sure that every group had access to the module.

Still no luck...:(

Have you updated the newbb module in modules - administration?
Try that next. You need this done to load the new files you uploaded into the database. (Now also if you use cloned templates you may need to regenerate them manually in Misc. Tools - Templates.)

Inside the newbb administration itself, you should have an admin tab named "Permissions".

Got an error viewing your page that the database was down. Then saw the message you posted on your site. Can you explain what happened? Did the database go down for a minute or two?

Sorry to see your having problems.
