Are the pre-installed Xoops banners required

Hi,

I'm starting out with the XOOPS thing, and I like it so far, but I don't like the banner at the top of my theme. Am I required to use the XOOPS banner? Or can I replace it with my own stuff? (I know it's meant for Advertising, but right now that's not really something I'm looking at doing)

You aren't required to use that banner. Or use banners at all.

You can disable the banner from the system prefferences menu if required.

I've got another question:

How can I re-install the pre-installed XOOPS banners that I've un-installed? I want to have them back on some of my sites.

Are you referring to the code in the banner manager or are you referring to the code in the theme?

The code for the banner manager is just the relative path to the banners in your images directory. and a link to XOOPS. Like so...

If you're referring to the Smarty variable for banners, it's..

I had completely deleted XOOPS as a client in the banner rotation, so I don't think that there are any references to the banners or their files at all.

The files are not deleted if you delete the client, only the tracking details. If you browse images/banners/ you'll find the banners are still present.

Just recreate the XOOPS client and re-add the banners and links to the banner manager.
