I went through the steps of going from one version to the next in the upgrade. 2.0.7.3, 2.0.9.2, 2.0.10, 2.0.12a, 2.0.13.1, 2.2.3

I tested each of them before moving on to the next.

After going from 2.0.13.1 to 2.2.3 I am now getting these messages, and the website is crashed.

Would it be better to install a clean fresh version of 2.2.3, and then pain-stakingly move over the data?

I am not sre if a clean install of 2.2.3 is a better option or not; perhaps others are in a better posistion to advise you on that one (I am still running 2.0.13.2)

however in the mesages you posted I can often find something like : ....language//modinfo.php
Which looks like a langauge directory is missing or XOOPS is trying to fins a language with no name. Perhaps you should start your search in this area ?

Ok, I figured that out. What the problem was, is that I skipped a very essential step, which was to run the xoopsupdate.php file.

That is the only noticable difference in the installation steps from previous updates.

Anyway. After fixing that, and getting everything to run fairly well, I have had another problem.

With headlines I get a few fatal error(s).

What does 2.2.3 offer that 2.0.7.3 does not. I've been running the later for over a year and it works well. I've considered upgrading to 2.2 but don't want to break something that's working not knowing any of the benefits. Did you get your XOOPS working?

I would suggest for compatibility with modules to stay with the 2.0x version. But I would suggest to upgrade to 2.0.13.2 as there are several security fixes since your current version.

Thanks for the advise. I had planned on installing 2.2 [current version] when I have a new client install. I have far too much critical data to have my 2.0 site to go down.

I've been using 2.2.3 for a while now and have visited the XOOPS site for some additional modules and upgrades. As I read, I find some discerning information about migrating back to 2.0.x. (downgarding).

Is this someting I need to consider to continue the upgrade path with xoops?

Please provide the most current information on this subject so i can make an educated decision.

I have enjoyed the 2.2.3 build and look forward to future improvements.

Any advise on upgrading/downgarding and sidestepping issues would be greatly appreciated.
