I've installed XOOPS and having a good time trying modules, themes etc. Awesome program!! Very easy installation!

I've been keeping tack of how many queries are made browsing through the blocks.

My host states that it allows 50 simultaneous connections.

The front Page Load Statistics: 2.966 Seconds | 34 Queries
I can remove content but I like what I've chosen.

my question-
If two users load the page at exactly the same time, will one will get an error or will the loading process just take longer for one -- is it queued?

50 seems restrictve when a page uses 34 to load.

Please excuse my total lack of knowledge on this subject.
I am clueless.

Re: MySQL simultaneous connections

Just a suggestion. If you have some content that is static, or virtually static (not changed much), and if you cache the content or blocks it will reduce the number of queries.

And yes, I would consider a number of 50 connections rather restrictive, but that is an agreement between you and your host. You can however shop around for a less restrictive provider.

Re: MySQL simultaneous connections

Damned hell!!!Connection != Queries per page
50 simultaneous connection means, what it's possible to have 50 visitors on site at the same time (if persistent connection disabled), and probably slightly more (plus permanent complaints from provider for opened stalled connections) if persistent connection in XOOPS enabled.

Cache reduces QUERIES per page, not connection amount!

LB,

Please try to not use profane language. And please try to be a little nicer. This kind of thing is getting out of hand.

Helo again,

Thanks for taking the time to answer. Although it seems the question has annoyed you just a tiny bit.

I contacted my host before I posted the question and they stated that their policy means 50 queries not fifty visitors. Perhaps I should have mentioned that in my first message.

Thank you both for the tips regarding cache and persistent connection. I'd wondered if that would need to be taken into account.
