I installed 2.2 and noticed there isn't a news module included? Is there a reason for this? I hope this question hasn't been asked already but I was surprised to find that there was only the PM and member module.

Question has been asked a few times, might want to search for it.

The main reason is that, module packages will be created for different website types.

It'll take a little while to weed out the problem modules with 2.2 and such.

How long do you think it will take until all modules have been updated to work correctly with XOOPS 2.2?

How long is a peice of string? For almost every module there is a different developer, and as all the publically available modules I know of are developed in the developers free time, it is impossible to say with any accuracy. If I had to say, then I would say never. The modules being actively developed I'd imagine will be updated before the end of the year, but I would not be suprise if many fall by the wayside.
