As part of my provider's "Power Tools" package I have installed XOOPS 2.0.5. What is the most stable version and recommended upgrade process. Or should I scrap the update idea and install 2.2 fresh?

What is currently the most stable version and recommended procedures for upgrading.

I also have an active site running 2.0.5 that will have to be upgraded, so recommendations for upgrading from 2.0.5 are still appreciated.

TIA

Mark

Re: Most Stable Upgrade Process

For your first question, if this is a new 2.05 install (which is a very old version) wait until the end of the weekend and install XOOPS 2.2 fresh. Fresh is always best for a new install.

For your existing 2.05 site the upgrade path is as follows (very long with database and file changes along the way. Make a full site/database backup before starting. )

1. 2.05 to 2.06
2. 2.06 to 2.07 (read upgrade instructions on the download page)
3. 2.07 to 2.0.9.2 (read instructions)
4. 2.0.9.2 to 2.0.10
5. 2.0.10 to 2.0.12a
6. 2.0.12a to 2.0.13 (current stable version)

After this weekend version 2.2 should be stable, but at this time is still a release candidate so should not as yet be used on a production site.

If you need any further instruction see my XOOPS System Upgrade Flash Tutorial which shows an actual 2.0.9.2 to 2.0.10 upgrade.

HTH.

That's good to hear, I'll wait for 2.2 later this weekend for the fresh site.

I'll have to get everything in order for the other site then tackle the upgrade over a weekend or when I'll have some free time.

Thanks for your help,

Mark
