Hello, I need to know how to install XOOPS on a subdomain.
I currently have my main XOOPS site up and trying to set up independent sites as subdomains, using sepporate databases.

I seem to be able to install it fine, or so it appears. However I can not use Pical .6 or .7 nor newbb 2.02
i can install the modules but i can not setup catigories, so they are useless at this point.
i get the error message no file specified with a blank screen.

Any suggestions

Thanks for gettinback to me, unfortunitely the referred posts are not of assistance for this issue.
This is the process i followed:
created sub directory
uploaded XOOPS to subdirectory
installed using a differnt table name for database (although i was forced to use the same root diectory)

any other suggestions

After posting I realized this should be an attition to the prior thread but did not see it at time of my inital post sorry.

I do not completely understand what the problem is, but perhaps you mean that you do not know how to point the subdomain to the folder in which the second XOOPS installation can be found? What do you mean by "forced to use the same root directory"?

Ok sorry if i was not clear.
I have XOOPS installed on a subdomain
for some reason i can not use pical or newbb in the subdomain install.
I get a blank page that states no file specifid when i try to add a catigory to set up a post.
all other modules seem to work fine (news and AMS allow for topics creation)
on this install i am using a sepporate database and everything.

Hi,
I saw a few errors but I don't think the errors are caused by usage of the installation on a subdomain. It would not seem logical.

Perhaps someone who knows these modules could help you with it.

Since you are just creating another instance of XOOPS site you do not have to worry about subdomains or anything like that. I have noticed that your pathhttp://bombinamd.billandsuyah.info/xoops/html/index.php has xoops/html. Even though it's perfectly legal, I do not think that was your intention. You should move everything tohttp://bombinamd.billadsuyah.info. So, depending where you host you should edit your httpd.conf file and point bombinamd.billadsuyah.info to some folder then update your dns to point to that location and try to do a system update. As I said, this is just another XOOPS installation and you do not have to look at subdomain stuff. Just straight forward XOOPS and module install. And since your site works, you should look into module install. Try to update modules, look into module forums etc.

Thanks for the feedback,
since the site is in development iam not too stressed about the syntax since its going to be forwarded to its own domainname www.bombinamd.com.
as for the module versions thats the rub.
The module and pical versions are the most recent, and thats just strange.
this is not just happoning on this sub but i have tried it 2x on other subs and got the same errors, thinking it was an error.


is there anyone out there that is using subs and come across anything simular?

I'm using multiple subdomains exactly as you. Different XOOPS installations, different databases and there are no problems on a single one of them. As I mentioned before, subdomain is not an issue here. Check your modules and permissions on a folder. When you upload to a server under what user you upload? All web files should be accessed by username apache therefore those files should belong to that user as well. Do for a single directory
chmod apache *
or if you want all files and subdirectories under it execute this command from your xoops_root_directory
chmod -R apache *

By the way, piCal newest version is not .7 it's .8 and it can be found http://www.peak.ne.jp/xoops/
