I know everybody has been looking for the exact opposite but I'd like to get rid of the "real name" field and replace it by two fields: christian name and surname.

It's rather straightforward to ad new fields in 2.1.1 using the extended profiles module but how do I delete any if they don't show up in the list of fiels in the extendedd profile module.

Real name can't be deleted because that will be shown to the users, instead of their username. That way it is more difficult for evil people to take over an account, as they would have to kow the username as well as the password. So it's an extra security measure.

You could rename it to 'screen name' and have christian and surname added for your main purposes tho.
