I thought I was starting to get the hang of all this XOOPS stuff. Then I thought I should see how my guests might see things. I tried on two different computers trying to sign up and register. I can't even get to the part where I type in information about myself. It immidiatly tells the guest they do not have permission to register, then shoots them back to the front page where they are promted to register becuase I still see them as guests. CRAZY HUH?

What error message is displayed?

If you see this:
Sorry, we are currently closed for new user registrations. Please contact the web administrator

Login as administrator, go to Administration Menu -> System Admin -> Preferences -> User Info Settings [edit], and activate the "Allow new user registration" flag.

If the problem is more complex than this, please post the full error message.

It says "Sorry, you do not have permission to access this area." then, "If you are not automatically returned click here.

All my settings appear to be correct.

Thanks,
Jake

go to system admin -> groups, edit the anonymous users group, and check they have access to the system module and the login block.

I think it will work now. For some reason the box was checked to block the login. Thanks fellas. (using version 2.1.1)

My bad, it still does not let me create users from the register part. I dont think that the anonomous group has rights to the system module. I was told to give them rights to that module in the groups settings. The system module is the only module not listed there for me to checkbox. Anyone have any more ideas why my guests can't register. http://www.westrealm.com/index.php if you want to try it for yourself.

Thanks,
Jake

I had the same problem.

See post https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=37334&forum=27

Aka New User Problem.

It fixed my problem.

If you are using XOOPS 2.0.10 ,check that the session's information is not placed in your address bar when you login yourself. If so, your server's php.ini is not configured correctly. This is a known issue with servers. I personally don't know why it happens with version 2.0.10 but not other versions.
If you are using another version, update your system module, turn the php debug on then try it again. After that report what are the listed errors (If any).

I'm having a similar problem after downgrading from 2.2 to 2.0.13.2

When i go to:
Preferences Main »» User Info Settings

All i have is a "GO" button and nothing else.

I installed IPBoard the same day, and have uninstalled Extended Profiles.
