hi all just installed newbb2 and i like it allot, one thing i have noticed is it takes a while to load everything up and you cannot access the popup menu until its finished loading everything is there a way to speed this up?

also the new popup menu's they don't match my theme, so how can i change the colour of the pop up menus's

The first issue, you have to update to CBB which allows you to choose a dropdown menu mode among "select box", "click" and "hover"

The second, you need modify newbb.css; check jdseymour's tutorial, he might have detailed guide.
