I have found any webpages i have tried to create look very basic in comparrison to the majority of others online probably due to my lack of knowledge on creating images, logos, banners etc on the page simply because i don't know how to make them, The pages are mainly text and looks poor. Can anyone advise me on good software to purchase that will do these for me with an easy to use interface. Many Thanks

any good graphics/art program will make pictures..

paint shop pro, photoshop, corel photo are just a few of the commercial ones..

out of those, paint shop pro is probably the easiest to use, photoshop is probably the best but you'll spend a long time learning it as it's feature rich..

i understand your problem tho, as graphics work isn't 1 of my strong points either..

I'm glad i'm not the only one LOL i have heard of xara 3d ver 6 and this is supposed to be good for designing banners etc has anyone used this ?

In the spirit of free/open source software, why not give GIMP a try?http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/ - it's loaded with features and there are good tutorials at:

http://gimp.org/tutorials

I've used it to do probably all of my site art and have *no* previous experience.

My favourite application for creating and editing web graphics is Macromedia Fireworks.

But I'm going to give GIMP a try, sounds interesting.
